My Family (& some photo tips)

Christmas is here! Can you believe it!?

My sister lives in California and was brave enough to fly across the country by herself with her almost 4 year old and 7 month old baby. I drove down to Knoxville to spend a few days with her and my gorgeous niece and nephew. Here are a few photos I captured of the kids.

I love these three photos. We were just hanging out in the living room. They're not perfect technically, but I don't care. Did you know that pictures don't have to be in focus to be beautiful? Picture taking tips: move in close, fill the frame with your subject, and don't forget to eliminate anything that might distract from your subject (moving in closer often fixes that problem). Oh, and have fun! Art is anything you think is beautiful.

Another component needed to make a great photo is lighting. Any lighting will do, it's just how you utilize it. The pictures above had only a floor lamp on beside her. With the right settings the light of the lamp made the pictures beautiful and artistic. The following day I found my niece in her bedroom watching T.V. The light coming in from the window provided the most beautiful lighting right on her face.

Not even four, my neice is totally full of life. Her little personality is really blooming. In the picture below she said, "Aunt Jessica...take a picture of me doing this". Then she'd just laugh and laugh...

Here's a picture of my Gerber-baby nephew. Isn't he soooo cute?! Look at those eyes. My dad is holding him. I wish I had gotten his hands in the picture to give it some context.

Bath Time! So much fun!

All clean! I took this picture of the mirror, so this is actually their reflection.
