Family Life. Outside [the] Box.

Probably one of my most favorite emails I've ever received from a family seeking to hire me...
D, I hope you don't mind that I'm posting a portion of your email for the world to see.

{Note: J is autistic. It's a different kind of autism in my opinion. One of his favorite things to do is hug and kiss people (girl or boy, pretty or ugly, popular or not, he doesn't care) which is pretty atypical - for people with autism or not. He's over 6 feet tall and so when he hugs you, you literally melt into his arms.}

From Mom:
"Jon would be such a great subject for you to photograph, because he does not care what you think, only what he wants you to hear or see him, "say". My pediatrician told me years ago that I should have Jon model. I always pictured him just being Jon, not caring what the photographer was wanting, just being himself...fearless, selfless, unselfconscious. There are so few in this world who do not care what others think. Autistic people would be the example. I have noticed in my years of being a mother of a special needs child that they are the most beautiful people God creates. Please understand, Jon has crooked teeth and pimples, but the smile and eyes of someone that steals hearts daily."

D, I agree. Thanks for letting me hang out with your family and capture you guys just being and living, as you said, "outside the box".

J's modeling debut (isn't he fabulous!?):
